Eight Dimensions of Wellness

Beyond decreasing stress and preventing diseases, wellness involves: having a purpose in life, active involvement in satisfying work and play, enjoyable relationships, a healthy body and living environment, and happiness. In 2012, Dr. Peggy Swarbrick developed the Wellness Model which integrates eight dimensions that support personal well-being, quality of life, balance, and longevity. The eight dimensions of wellness include emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual wellness.
